Oceanic Awareness Collaboration

Lamb Energy strongly believes in creating a more sustainable environment for both current and future generations. Lamb Energy is proud to sponsor Oceanic Awareness Collaboration (OAC), a non-profit which seeks to gain public awareness of environmental issues occurring in the world’s oceans. OAC accomplishes this by infusing together creative outlets such as art, music, and fashion throughout their various campaigns.

OAC’s current focus is geared toward raising awareness about the ill effects of non-biodegradable plastics in the ocean and their accumulation through out ocean gyres. These gyres, with the North Pacific being the most infected, have been dubbed ‘Garbage Patches’ or ‘Trash Islands’ and are one of the many human-induced catastrophes that have largely been overlooked. This problem is not only growing, but similar ‘garbage patches’ have been forming in other oceans around the world, such as in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

One of the primary ways OAC is fighting this catastrophe is by sponsoring children to attend the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI). OAC believes that in order to provoke change and inspire action, awareness must be instilled in the generations of tomorrow. They have a variety of other campaigns as well, such as the Paddle Against Plastic Campaign and the Beautiful Trash Campaign.
