Blindness Support Services was incorporated in May 1992, to provide innovative approaches to achieving independence and self-reliance for blind and visually impaired residents of Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, San Diego and Los Angeles Counties in Southern California.

Since incorporation, BSS has provided services to many blind and visually impaired consumers, their families and friends from local and surrounding communities. The agency has successfully administered grants from Weingart and PacifiCare Foundations, Rohr Industries, the California Council of the Blind, Bank of America, Allstate, and the Community Foundation of Riverside County. It has also successfully administered local city and county government contracts. They have received grants to address the barriers to adequate healthcare that people with visual impairments encounter on a regular basis.

BSS offers a wide variety of services to blind and visually impaired consumers, such as Braille transcription, independent living skills training, computer training, employment preparation, job development, peer support, affordable housing, and community education.

Lamb Energy is proud to support the Blind Support Services fundraising efforts by sponsoring a Spiral Wishing Well.  Spiral Wishing Wells have raised millions of dollars over the years for many organizations around the world, and some of the largest amounts have been raised at one-day or weekend events. Children (and adults) like to watch coins spin around the vortex-shaped funnel, gaining speed and seeming to defy the laws of gravity as they hug the side-walls without falling over. Spiral Wishing Wells bring a focus to events, and give the organizers a chance to encourage everyone to bring all the loose coins in their home to the event. There are billions of dollars worth of coins sitting on America's dressers and under seat cushions.
